Just checking in.

sorry its been awhile since my last entry. its been 49 days now since my last drink. i received my 30 day chip a few weeks ago at a birthday meeting. every month A.A gives out birthday chips (coins) to everyone who is celebrating a "sobriety birthday". Its great! there are tons of people, cake, drinks (non-alcoholic of course) and an overwhelming feeling of support. when your name is called everyone claps and screams and yells out your name saying 'good job!' followed by several hugs! yay for sponsorship!

So i got a sponsor. A sponsor is someone who has worked and has a clear understanding of the "12 steps". They usually have at least a few years of sobriety and by "sponsoring" someone they help a new comer through the steps just as their sponsor helped them. This is the foundation on which A.A rests. Alcoholics working with other alcoholics. I feel very good about having chosen a sponsor who i feel is right for me.
